“It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
— Matthew 4:4 (ESV)

What is 21 Days of Prayer + Fasting?

Every year, we come together as a church to pray and fast as we seek the Lord’s will for our community in the coming year. There are a variety of ways you can join us in fasting, such as:

  • Complete Fast: This type of fast involves consuming only water and some light fruit juices (with no added sugar)

  • Selective Fast: This fast involves removing certain elements from your diet. A common form of selective fast is the Daniel Fast, where you are limited from eating animal products, sweetening products, caffeine and alcohol, and solid or animal fats.

  • Partial Fast: This fast involves abstaining from all food for a certain portion of the day, usually between specific times of day, or following the rising and setting of the sun.

  • Soul Fast: This kind of fast is for those who don’t have experience fasting food, have health concerns preventing them from fasting food, or those that simply wish to realign their priorities to point towards a deeper relationship with God. You can fast things such as social media, television, or any other activity that is a distraction in your life.

You can also download a Prayer Guide with examples of how to pray in different situations, to give you some direction if you are new to a life of prayer.

How do I fast?

Dr. Bill Bright wrote a simple 7-step guide to prayer and fasting that will help guide you in the process of choosing what to fast and maintaining that fast over the 21 Days.
